Marc as Perchik, "Fiddler on the Roof". See info on Fort Peck below to find out where and when this was taken. Nat Miller, "Ah, Wilderness!" by Eugene O'Neill, performed circa February 1972 in Edmonton's Studio Theatre. Many of these pictures are from Marc's Fort Peck theatre days. Many thanks to Bill Crosby, who recognized these pictures, for the information about them. A note from Bill: "I knew Marc and am glad to say that we became close friends during the summer of 1972. We both were company members of the Fort Peck Summer Theatre, Fort Peck, Montana. It was Marc's second season at Fort Peck, and it was my first. I had been hired and travelled to Montana from my home state of Washington, and Marc had come to the states from Canada, (the majority of other members of the company were from Canada). "That summer Marc was the Assistant Artistic Director of the Company. Four major musical productions were presented: 'Damn Yankees', 'Brigadoon', 'Man of LaMancha' and 'Camelot.' In addition to being the Ass't. Artistic Director, Marc directed and choreographed 'Damn Yankees' (as well as danced the 'Who's Got The Pain When They Do The Mambo' number with partner, Paula Klagge -'Lola'); he starred as 'Tommy' in 'Brigadoon', starred as 'Cervantes/Don Quixote' in 'Man of LaMancha', and also starred as 'King Arthur' in 'Camelot.' Needless to say, he had an incredibly busy summer .... as we all did! Since this was a summer stock experience, we also were responsible for set construction, costuming, lighting, and even the construction of a monsterous stage. Marc showed his many talents in all of these areas, as well as performing. "Marc was a wonderfully talented individual, and had an infectious energy about his work. He was incredibly dedicated to his craft. We spent many wonderful times during that summer discussing theatre, careers, goals, objectives .... all the sorts of things that eager young performers discuss. From Camelot and another one. According to Bill Crosby: "[The first picture] is the five leading characters from our final production, Camelot. In the back row, L to R: Patrick Dunn (King Pellenore), Ed Scheibner (Sir Lancelot), Bill Crosby (me) (Mordrid {sic}); in front, Paula Klagge (Guenivere), and of course Marc (King Arthur). This was a "photo op" and was taken of the groups as we took final bows. "[The second picture] with Marc holding a sword is once again him playing King Arthur. I believe this is from the end of the first act -- the 'Proposition' speech." Marc as Cromwell. I love this photo and now (again thanks to Bill Crosby) I know something about it: "During the 1971 season at Fort Peck, Marc performed as 'Professor Harold Hill' in the 'Music Man'; 'Mortimer' in 'Arsenic and Old Lace', and 'Perchik' in 'Fiddler on the Roof' (the picture you have displayed). I think you will also be delighted to know that your 'Marc as a bald man' picture is from this season's production of 'A Man For All Seasons' and is his portrayal of 'Cromwell.'" And here are some Nylons pics from an '87 era concert, from a kind fellow in California... From their performance of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". You can tell because they are grouped around an imaginary campfire, and Arnold is brandishing a tambourine. "One Fine Day" (we think) "Perpetual Emotion" The clue here is that they are doing some sort of "clockwork" choreography. At least my source thinks it's "Perpetual Emotion," but I'm skeptical since Marc appears to be doing lead vocals, not Paul. |
