WHY

Writers often do, but shouldn't write in a vacuum. We need input. Unless one is writing for pure enjoyment, there is also a desire to be published. For this reason, what others think becomes important. We also learn from reading and listening to the works of others. Finally, we are a source of people to come to when you want to talk about the most recent #$%!@ editor who rejected your most-wonderful work.
